Some stories don’t just get read — they are felt. Stories that remind us that even in the darkest moments, a new beginning is possible.
This is the story of Mikhaylo, a Ukrainian war veteran we met at ISPO Stockholm, where we shared a meaningful moment and gifted him an ADDDITION Mini Cover — a small detail that is now part of his everyday life and identity.
Mikhaylo comes from Uzhhorod, the westernmost city of Ukraine — a peaceful place that suddenly felt very far from peaceful when the full-scale invasion began.
Today, at 33 years old, Mikhaylo is a war veteran.
In the summer of 2023, during assault operations in the Zaporizhia region, mortar shelling changed his life forever: he lost a leg.
In a single moment, the life he knew was gone — but his will to live remained.
Losing a limb is not something you can prepare for. The physical recovery is one part of the journey — the emotional rebuilding is another.
But Mikhaylo refused to surrender. He chose to move forward.
Today, Mikhaylo lives an active, full and fearless life. His story isn’t only about survival — it’s about transformation.
He believes in one powerful truth:
“Motion is life — and I am very much alive.”
Mikhaylo tells his story to inspire others — wounded soldiers, people with disabilities, and anyone who feels like giving up.
His message is clear:
✅ The story doesn’t end with injury. A new chapter begins.
A chapter that can still be filled with strength, joy and purpose.
Small, practical tools can make a real difference in daily life. Mikhaylo received the ADDDITION Mini Cover, and it truly impacted his routine.
“It feels personal — like a small but meaningful expression of identity.”
One of the most human and beautiful parts of his story:
😁😇 “I get compliments all the time.”
And that matters. Because after an injury like this, rebuilding confidence is a huge victory.
Functional design can do more than help — it can empower, restore pride, and give people a way to express who they are.
