Sonia is 54 years old and has a story that inspires from the very first line.
A former Tourism teacher, she’s always been an active, cheerful woman surrounded by people.
In 2013, after several surgeries and a serious infection, her life changed — she underwent a leg amputation.
But instead of seeing an ending, Sonia found a new beginning.
“Losing my leg was hard, but it also taught me to see life differently — to appreciate things more deeply, to enjoy them more.”
Her biggest source of strength was her three-year-old son. With his love, and the support of her family and friends, Sonia learned to adapt and to embrace her prosthesis as part of who she is.
“I realized that looks aren’t everything. What really matters is moving forward — being yourself, fully and proudly.”
Today, Sonia sees her prosthesis as an extension of her identity. She chooses it, personalizes it, and wears it with pride. We can definitely see this with her prosthetic cover choice: glossy finishes, metallic blue and rose gold tones, every detail reflecting her energy and elegance.
“I feel more like myself — more comfortable and free. When you make the prosthesis yours, everything changes. It’s no longer just functional — it becomes part of you.”
Her advice to new amputees is simple yet powerful:
“Acceptance first. Don’t hide. If something can’t be done with a leg, do it without it. The point is to do it. Sometimes you’ll surprise yourself and do it even better.”
Sonia embodies the spirit of ADDDITION: real, authentic people who turn experience into strength, and strength into style.
Because a prosthesis and its cover can also be a reflection of who you are.
